Is the subsonic still a tool of choice? What are the easy ways to complete the construction of DAL with stock tools in VS-2010?
I need to change a project that was done several years ago with subsonic 2.03 and would like to hear the "right" opinion.

subsonic is a fine ORM, but there are many features in that unit The framework 4 and NHibernate are also subsonic, not too fast as EF and NH.
It is possible that the subsonic is now the best night of the two years ORM will be, but it is currently not highly unlikely.
There is no "right" or "correct" answer when choosing .NET ORM. NHibernate looks like the safest option now, while the unit framework 4 is a good fit for those companies who prefer solutions from Microsoft Subsonic 2 & 3 will work well in many situations and it will be better for your project which is already working.
